Eco Engineering wins top honors in the 100+ employee privately-held category at the 18th Annual Family & Private Business Awards
Cincinnati, Ohio – September 15, 2017 – Eco Engineering, the largest independent design and build engineering firm in the US energy efficient lighting industry, was awarded the top honor as the region’s best privately-owned company (100+ employees) at the annual Goering Center awards ceremony.
The 18th Annual Goering Center Family and Private Business Awards gala was held September 12 in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. From 500 nominated companies, an independent panel of four judges led a six-month long selection process to narrow the list to 75 semi-finalists. From those, one winner and two finalists were selected in six categories identifying Cincinnati’s finest private and family businesses.
“This award is a strong credit to our leadership team, our associates and our unwavering commitment to the communities where we work and live,” said Tom Kirkpatrick, CEO of Eco Engineering. “We are honored to be selected as this year’s winner and will continually strive to meet or exceed the highest standards of private business accomplishment as exemplified by the Goering Center.”
In recent years, Eco Engineering has experienced sustained growth supporting Fortune 1000 and Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) as a preferred provider of lighting design and implementation services for energy efficiency projects. A full-service, turn-key provider, the company has been advancing innovative energy efficiency concepts in the lighting sector throughout its history. The company has a distinctive profile in that they are an engineering and design firm which comprehensively audits the existing lighting infrastructure of major facilities to optimize the savings potential from upgraded lighting systems, controls and related technologies. Eco Engineering also provides turn-key execution services and performs all project implementation; build out of the new design and EPA compliant disposal services. In addition, the firm helps clients qualify for any federal, state or local utility incentives to reduce project expense and boost return-on-investment.
In addition to managing multi-site programs for its clients, Eco Engineering completed over 450 large projects in 48 states in 2016 involving office buildings, industrial facilities, schools, hospitals, hotels, retail stores, and distribution centers. The combined impact of these projects for customers was a reduction of 100 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year and more than $10 million in annual energy savings. The company has been growing rapidly in recent years and expects continued double-digit growth as organizations recognize the importance of sustainability while reducing operating expenses.
Eco Engineering’s commitment to the local communities where it maintains personnel is exceptionally strong for a privately-held business. For example, each year the company selects a charitable or public service organization nominated by an Eco Engineering associate to be the recipient of a pro-bono project to upgrade their facility lighting systems. Eco Engineering performs the design, does the work for free and the sponsored organization benefits from reduced operating expenses and improved lighting quality after the upgrade.
